Set on the banks of the River L'isle, this charming property comfortably sleeps up to 12 guests (including children over 3, we have 2 cots available) and is perfect for summer holidays, long weekends with friends, or relaxing midweek breaks. The farmhouse blends rustic character with modern comfort; with six generous bedrooms and six bathrooms, a large covered terrace for al fresco dining, and a private heated pool (May to September), it offers the ideal setting for both relaxation and connection.

While we are not a party venue, we’re happy to host meaningful gatherings such as family reunions or special birthday celebrations—like a 70th, for example. Please note that we do not allow organised events such as large parties, weddings, or similar functions. This helps us maintain the calm and respectful atmosphere we value in our home. If you'd like to plan a private dinner for 12, we would be delighted to put you in contact with a private chef.
At La Vieille Ferme we can only accommodate 12 guests, we will not accept extra guests sleeping on our sofa’s.
We also have a minimum stay of 2 nights.
La Vieille Ferme needs a security deposit of 800€ for 7 nights, with payment in euros by bank transfer. For all other bookings we require a 20% deposit at the time of booking, with full balances due 4 weeks before arrival. The city tax (tax de séjour) is at 1.10€ per person per night for over 18 years old, to be paid in cash at the end of your stay.

The house is available to rent as a whole property only. We do not offer individual room bookings. Whether you're a large family, a group of friends, or multiple generations holidaying together, you'll have full private use of the entire house, garden, pool, and all facilities during your stay.
The ground floor
Step into a spacious entrance hall that opens into a fully equipped kitchen and breakfast room — perfect for morning coffees or casual family meals. A separate, elegant dining room offers a more formal setting for special occasions and long, celebratory dinners.
The large living room is warm and welcoming, with three generous sofas, a flat-screen TV, and a selection of books and toys for all ages — ideal for relaxing after a day out. For added convenience, the ground floor also features a fully equipped laundry room with supplies, as well as a downstairs bathroom with shower and WC.
Pool, terrace & river
The heart of the house in summer is the large covered terrace — a spacious, shaded area made for relaxed outdoor living. It features a generous dining table for family meals, a lounge area for lazy afternoons, a Plancha gas barbecue, ping-pong table, and a hammock for curling up with a good book.
The terrace leads directly to the private 10 x 5 metre saltwater pool (1.50m deep), surrounded by sun loungers and parasols for making the most of long sunny days. There is also a convenient downstairs shower and WC in the main house — perfect for rinsing off after a swim.
The mature garden stretches down to the edge of the River L’Isle, where two two-person canoes are available for guests to explore the waterway. Lifejackets are provided in a variety of sizes for both river and pool use.
Parents, please be aware that children must be supervised at all times. We do not provide a lifeguard, so child safety in and around the pool and the river is the full responsibility of guests.

Bedroom 1
A bright and spacious master bedroom with a queen-size bed, en-suite shower and WC. French doors open onto a private balcony overlooking the terrace — perfect for a quiet morning coffee.
Bedroom 3
Designed with families in mind, this room can be arranged as a double or twin, with space for a child’s bed and cot. Shares a shower room and WC with bedroom 2.
Bedroom 5
A restful space that can be made up as a twin or a double. Includes a private en-suite for added comfort.
Bedroom 2
A cosy and adaptable room that can be set up as a twin or a double. Shares a shower room and WC with bedroom 3 — ideal for kids or friends travelling together.
Bedroom 4
Another elegant master bedroom with a queen-size bed, en-suite shower and WC. Step onto your own balcony with views over the terrace and garden.
Bedroom 6
Light and comfortable, this room also offers twin or double flexibility with a modern en-suite bath/shower room and WC.

There is no smoking or vaping allowed in any bedrooms or inside the house, ashtrays are available on our balconies and terrace
Noise and music

During your stay please don’t forget that we have neighbours, and out of respect to them we would like you to continually be aware of your surroundings.

Cut off time for outdoor music is at 10pm, after this time music can be played indoors or on a low volume.
Parking

Guests may park in front of the house, we have a maximum capacity of 6 cars as we live next door and also need access to the common drive. Electric car chargers are available in our local E.Leclerc’s, we are not a charging station.

The city of Bordeaux is around an hours drive, with its chic shopping, fabulous bars, and restaurants; it's a great day out for all the family. With a variety of restaurants, take the modern tram with its Park+Ride stations, or simply park in one of bordeaux underground car parks. Park & ride from Cenon and experience Bordeaux like a local, or hop on the train from Coutras and you'll be there in 30 mins.
Wine and Château tours
The world famous wines of Pomerol and Saint-Emilion are less than a 20 minutes drive; with over 800 growers and producers, you are spoiled for choice.

We have been working with our fantastic masseuse, Aude, who will come to the house and provide a long moment of relaxation. Full body, head, shoulder, and facials, are highly recommended by guests and me !

Other leisurely activities
If you're in the mood for a change of pace beyond the garden and pool, there are plenty of relaxing options nearby. For a little indulgence, we’re happy to recommend a local spa just 15 minutes away, Spa-Aux-Ducs-De-Sienne offering a full range of treatments to help you truly unwind. Guests can also visit the nearby swimming complex in Libourne, la Calinésie, which features a sauna, hammam, and a Norwegian pool — as well as big water slides and a variety of play spaces for children. The water park also features a large swimming pool, perfect for keen swimmers.
Whether you're after a bit of pampering or a fun day out, these local spots offer a lovely way to slow down and soak up the rhythm of the region.
Markets
Coutras has a local market on a Saturday and Wednesday, Libourne offers a typical French market on a a Friday and Sunday morning.
